Milan, 11 July (LaPresse) – Goffredo Fofi, essayist, writer, intellectual, journalist and film critic, has died at the age of 88. among other works, he co-authored with Franca Faldini the book “Totò, l'uomo e la maschera” (Totò, the man and the mask) and wrote “Totò, Storia di un buffone serissimo” (Totò, story of a very serious buffoon), which marked the critical re-evaluation of the film work of Antonio De Curtis, known as Totò. Author and creator of important magazines such as “Quaderni piacentini”, “La Terra vista dalla Luna” (The Earth Seen from the Moon), “Ombre Rosse” (Red Shadows), “Linea d'Ombra” (Shadow Line), “Lo Straniero” (The Stranger) and “Gli Asini” (The Donkeys), he was born in Gubbio on 15 April 1937. A “militant” writer in the 1960s and 1970s, he made the fight against cultural homogenisation the common thread of his critical thinking throughout his long career.
