ECB, Lagarde: ‘EU faces existential moment, from Trump urge to act’

Frankfurt (Germany), Jan 22 (LaPresse) – ‘In Europe we face an existential moment and we have the diagnoses on what we should do. Now we have a big push, because another big player in the world economy (Donald Trump's US ed.) is organising things differently. I think this is a second significant wake-up call, which can lead Europeans to do things differently in order to act. And I would count a lot on the fact that we have the talent. We have the money and the ideas'. This was said by the President of the European Central Bank (ECB), Christine Lagarde, in her speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. ‘We have to act and we have to do it together. We have to play not only in defence, but also in attack, to use football terminology. We have to make sure that we exploit the strengths we have,' Lagarde further said.
