London (United Kingdom), May 6 (LaPresse/AP) – U.S.-based food delivery company DoorDash has agreed to acquire its British competitor Deliveroo for £2.9 billion ($3.9 billion). The acquisition, announced in a joint statement by both companies before the opening of the London Stock Exchange, aims to expand DoorDash's operations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. DoorDash, headquartered in San Francisco, will pay 180 pence ($2.40) per Deliveroo share, representing a 29% premium over Deliveroo's closing price on April 24, the day before the offer was announced .
