Milan, Dec. 2 (LaPresse) – In October 2025, on a monthly basis, the growth in employment was associated with a decline in unemployment and substantial stability in the number of inactive persons. This was reported by Istat in its update on ‘Employment and Unemployment’ for October 2025. Specifically, Istat points out that the increase in employment (+0.3%, equal to +75,000 units) involves men, women, employees, self-employed workers, and all age groups except for 25-34 year olds, who are in decline. The employment rate rose accordingly to 62.7% (+0.1 points), while the total number of employed persons was 24 million 208 thousand. Comparing the August-October 2025 quarter with the previous one (May-July), Istat adds, there was substantial stability in the number of employed persons. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of job seekers decreased (-4.4%, equal to -71,000) and the number of inactive people aged 15-64 increased (+0.5%, equal to +61,000). In October 2025, on an annual basis, the number of employed persons exceeded that of October 2024 by 0.9% (+224,000); the increase concerned men, women, and those aged 50 and over, compared with a decrease in other age groups. The employment rate rose by 0.4 percentage points in one year. Compared to October 2024, both the number of job seekers (-2.2%, equal to -34,000) and the number of inactive people aged 15 to 64 (-1.4%, equal to -171,000) fell.
