Winter sales 2026: starting on 2 January, but “pre-sales” are already diluting the impact

Milan, 29 December. (LaPresse) – The countdown to the winter sales is now underway: they will officially start on 2 January in Valle d'Aosta and on 3 January in the rest of Italy, with the exception of Trento and Bolzano. However, discounts have already begun with the “pre-sales” which, according to Confesercenti, have involved almost 2 million consumers. Estimates suggest a turnover of around €6 billion for this season, but early sales are reducing the impact of traditional sales. Offers, including online and in outlets, are becoming increasingly frequent, creating confusion and eroding Christmas purchases. Confesercenti is calling for greater transparency and compliance with the rules to ensure fair competition.
