Budget, green light from the Chamber. Meloni: "Serious and responsible, moving forward for a stronger and more competitive Italy"

Rome, Dec. 30 (LaPresse) – After yesterday’s confidence vote, the Chamber gave final approval to the budget with 216 votes in favor, 126 against, and 3 abstentions. The measure, approved by the Council of Ministers in October, amended in the Senate committee, and presented as a secured bill in the Chamber, will thus become law. "Parliament has approved the 2026 Budget Law. It is a serious and responsible budget, built in a complex context, focusing the limited resources available on some fundamental priorities: families, work, businesses, and healthcare." This was written on social media by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after the Chamber’s final approval of the budget. "We continue on the path of reducing income tax for the middle class, supporting birth rates and employment, strengthening public healthcare, and supporting those who invest, produce, and create jobs. We have worked to make already initiated measures permanent and to strengthen those that truly affect Italians’ daily lives, keeping the commitments we made," concluded the Prime Minister, adding: "Another step forward to provide certainty to the nation and continue building a stronger, more competitive Italy, capable of looking to the future with confidence."
