Fuel, Tajani: "We are considering a cut in excise duties offset by an increase in VAT"

Rome, Mar. 15 (LaPresse) – "As far as the economic aspects of the conflict in the Gulf are concerned, I believe we must carefully assess how to intervene to prevent the damage caused, especially in Hormuz, from falling on Italian citizens. We must evaluate how to act on excise duties and it seems to me that there is an open debate to ensure that the cost of energy is kept under control. There could be a cut in excise duties offset by an increase in VAT because prices are rising. It could be an idea to consider. We are working to find concrete answers for citizens who do not deserve to pay for faults that are not theirs," said Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of the event 'Tg2 – 50 years of news' at the Maxxi in Rome.
