EU, Giorgetti: ‘Crises are dragging us down; we need a change of pace with politics at the centre’

Rome, 9 June (LaPresse) – “We need a change of pace” in Europe, ensuring first and foremost that “politics returns to playing a central role”. This was the message from Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti speaking at the ceremony to award diplomas and badges to officers who completed the 53rd Advanced Course in Economic and Financial Police. "Economic history, in fact, teaches us that periods of crisis are generally followed by periods of recovery, and that opportunities can arise from difficult circumstances. However – and we must bear this firmly in mind – if crises and factors of instability are persistent, they can also lead to failure and generate chronic problems. Hence the need for concrete and timely responses, especially in an era – such as the one we are currently experiencing – characterised by armed conflicts on Europe’s borders and within Europe itself, as well as in other strategic areas of the world such as the Middle East, trade and technology wars, and energy shocks that affect the daily lives of citizens, families and businesses,” explained the minister.
