Venice 82: “Leoncino d'oro” award goes to the film “The Voice Of Hind Rajab”

Venice, 5 September (LaPresse) – Kaouther Ben Hania's film “The Voice Of Hind Rajab”, in competition at the Venice Film Festival, won the 2025 edition of the 'Leoncino d'Oro' award, which is assigned by a jury of secondary school students representing thousands of young people participating in the David Giovani regional juries throughout Italy and the CIPS projects promoted as part of the National Cinema and Images for Schools Plan promoted by MIC and MIM. During the award ceremony, Kaouther Ben Hania's film was awarded with the following motivation: 'A film that does not just tell a story, but lives and breathes it. A work that inevitably makes us conscious and powerless witnesses to the heartbreaking representation of the futile passing of time. The use of authentic voices and images, condensed into scenes of sharp realism, convey the immediacy and sincerity of the feelings experienced, which are not just a narrative element but an emotional reverberation that digs deep inside us, restoring the full weight of the experience shown to us. A masterful interpretation by the actors who put themselves at the service of reality, making the link with acting indistinguishable. A claim to humanity, a necessary cry that awakens dormant consciences. For these reasons, the Leoncino d'Oro of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival goes to The Voice Of Hind Rajab by Kaouther Ben Hania." Now in its 37th edition, the Leoncino has become one of the most important and significant side awards of the Venice Film Festival. The Golden Lion Jury, composed of young students, one per region representing Italian schools, was held in the presence of Mauro Antonelli, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Pierro, Director General of Communication and Institutional Relations of the MIM, and Luigi Lonigro, President of the Union of Film Publishers and Distributors. The event was attended by Vincenzo Mannino, Advisor to the Minister of Education and Merit, Piera Detassis, President and Artistic Director of the Italian Film Academy – David di Donatello Awards, Mario Lorini, President of ANEC and Vice-President of AGIS, Simone Gialdini, Director General of ANEC, Bruno Zambardino, Director General of Cinema and Audiovisual at MIC, and Stefania Radoccia, Vice-President of UNICEF Italy.
