Television: Emmy Awards, Tillman first black actor to win best supporting actor award

Milan, 15 September (LaPresse/Ap) – Tramell Tillman is the first black man to win an Emmy for best supporting actor in a drama series for his role in “Severance”. Backstage on Sunday, Tillman spoke of the “wonderful work” done by dozens of actors of colour before him, including the late Andre Braugher and Michael K. Williams. “I've been fascinated by their work for years and have taken inspiration from them, so I'm honoured to be in this category,” said 40-year-old Tillman. His win brought the total number of Emmy Awards for “Severance” to eight, which led the nominations this year with a total of 27 nods. Britt Lower also won the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for the series.
