Los Angeles (California, United States), 13 April (LaPresse) – Britney Spears has checked into a drug rehabilitation clinic just over a month after being arrested on a charge of drink-driving. The 44-year-old pop star – as explained by one of her representatives to the AP – admitted herself voluntarily to the facility. On 5 March, California Highway Patrol officers received a report of a BMW travelling at high speed and erratically on US 101 in Ventura County, near the border with Los Angeles County. On that occasion, Spears was subjected to the relevant tests and was arrested – according to the authorities – for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The singer was subsequently released after spending several hours in a cell. On 23 March, investigators handed the case over to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, which is expected to announce its decision on the charges against Spears by early May.
