TV, Agcom updates list of events to be broadcast free-to-air: Slam tournaments and Masters 1000 included

Turin, May 6 (LaPresse) – A wide range of sport, including tennis with Grand Slam tournaments and Masters 1000 events, as well as several notable cultural and musical events such as the premieres at La Scala and San Carlo theatres and the New Year’s Concert of La Fenice, as well as the Sanremo Festival and the final night of the Eurovision Song Contest. Agcom has updated the list of events to be broadcast free-to-air, a list "significantly expanded compared to the past" that "covers an even broader range of major events, both sporting and cultural," according to a statement from the Communications Regulatory Authority. "In addition to the historic sporting competitions of major national and international interest such as the Olympics, Paralympics, official matches of the Italian national football team, finals and semi-finals of European club competitions involving Italian teams, the Giro d’Italia, motor racing events held in Italy and major world finals, numerous other important events have been included. These also include selected events from sports such as rugby, cycling, athletics, swimming, gymnastics, fencing, skating and skiing, together with the most important tennis competitions at national and international level, such as Grand Slam tournaments and Masters 1000 events," Agcom said. "The list is further enriched with major cultural and musical events, including the Sanremo Festival, the final night of the Eurovision Song Contest, the premieres at La Scala and San Carlo theatres and the New Year’s Concert of La Fenice, thus ensuring an even more representative and inclusive coverage of events that engage and captivate the Italian public."
