May 1st: Israeli, US, and EU flags burned during the Turin march

Milan, May 1st (LaPresse) – Israeli, US, and European Union flags were burned during the May Day rally in Turin. The act took place in Piazza Solferino at the end of the march, as has occurred repeatedly in recent years at the conclusion of the demonstration. It was carried out by members of the ‘social bloc,’ which includes pro-Palestinian groups and social centers, among them militants from the historic Askatasuna collective. The flags were set on fire, and the Israeli flag was thrown to the ground during a speech from the stage urging people to vote in the citizenship referendum on June 8–9.
