Pope Leo XIV: ‘In Italy, challenges posed by disaffection with the faith require new impetus in proclaiming the Gospel’

Vatican City, June 17 (LaPresse) – In Italy, the Christian community "has long been facing new challenges linked to secularism, a certain disaffection with the faith, and the demographic crisis." So said Pope Leo XIV while addressing the Italian bishops in audience.

“There is a need for a renewed momentum in proclaiming and transmitting the faith,” added Prevost, emphasizing the importance of "placing Jesus at the center."

The Pope then urged the bishops to “discern ways to bring the Good News to everyone, through pastoral actions capable of reaching those who are more distant, and through tools suited to renewing catechesis and the language of evangelization.”
