Rome, 18 June (LaPresse) – ‘We are deeply moved to learn that one of the topics in this year's Italian written exam for high school graduates refers to the attention and trust that our father placed in young people. He had enormous hope for future generations, and we have always believed that his efforts were driven by a sense of high expectations for positive change in our civil society.’ This is how Lucia, Fiammetta and Manfredi Borsellino commented on the state exam question inspired by a quote from their father, Judge Paolo, who was killed by the Mafia on 19 July 1992. ‘His famous phrase, “if young people deny them consent, even the all-powerful and mysterious Mafia will vanish like a nightmare”, encapsulates all the hope that his work as a magistrate committed to the fight against the Mafia would have an impact on the consciences of all citizens, in a journey marked by the sacrifice of so many magnificent human lives,’ the Borsellino family continued. Today, we remain aware that through this recognition and tribute, our father's sacrifice is like a seed that is bearing fruit. The road ahead is still long, but we are on the right track. We would like to thank the School of all levels for all the work it has done to educate people about legality over the past thirty-three years, which we know will be continued with renewed enthusiasm in light of today's events."
