Cagliari, July 2 (LaPresse) – Two men died this morning in Sardinia after falling ill due to the intense heat while at the beach. The victims were a 75-year-old man, who died in Budoni, and a 60-year-old man who passed away shortly after in San Teodoro, at Lu Impostu beach.
Both incidents occurred in the northeast of the island, a short distance from one another. Emergency services arrived on the scene with ambulances and, in the first case, with an air ambulance operated by Areus, but their intervention was in vain.
According to medical personnel, the illnesses were likely caused by the extreme temperatures recorded in the area, which have exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. Investigations by health authorities are currently underway.
