Milan: hit and killed, three of the minors arrested will be sent to a youth detention centre

Milan, Aug. 14 (LaPresse) – Three of the minors responsible for the death of Cecilia De Astis, who was hit and killed in Milan, will be placed in protected communities. They include the 13-year-old who was driving the car that struck and killed the 71-year-old woman on Monday, along with a 12-year-old boy and his 11-year-old sister from the Selvanesco camp. The emergency measure was taken because the families had left their place of residence "without informing authorities of their intentions," despite their "good cooperation during the initial phase of the investigation." The three minors were all found in Piedmont: the two boys on farmland in the municipality of Beinasco, and the youngest girl on the A6 Turin–Savona motorway near the Fossano tollbooth heading toward Ventimiglia. Efforts are ongoing to locate the fourth minor who was in the stolen car—taken from a French tourist—at the time of the fatal incident. The road police of the Piedmont region contributed to locating the children. The measures, executed by the Milan local police, were taken in agreement with the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, which had filed urgent appeals to protect the minors and was awaiting decisions from the Juvenile Court.
