Ranucci attack, the journalist: ‘They could have killed my daughter’

Rome, 18 October (LaPresse) – ‘My daughter walked past my car a few minutes before the explosion. They could have killed someone, they could have killed my daughter. They used at least a kilo of explosives.’ This was stated by journalist Sigfrido Ranucci in an interview with Corriere della Sera after the attack. ‘My daughter had parked her car next to mine about twenty minutes before the explosion, which occurred at 10 p.m.,’ said the host of Report, stating that his car had last been used by his son at 1:20 p.m. “It was a worrying step up because it was right in front of my house, where bullets were found last year,” Ranucci said. Responding to the question of whether he felt isolated, the journalist said that the state and institutions had always been “close to him in recent months” but that he felt “a climate of isolation and delegitimisation”. ‘Feeling close to the top management of Rai has been a very positive, very nice and also very constructive thing,’ he added. With regard to the perpetrators of the attack, Ranucci said he had no ideas but pointed out that it ‘might not be a coincidence’ that a few days ago he announced the topics of Report's new investigations.
