Ranucci attack, Parolin: ‘Great concern over intimidation of the free press’

Rome, 21 October (LaPresse) – The attack on Sigfrido Ranucci ‘is a source of great concern that there may be these acts of intimidation against the free press’. This was stated by the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, speaking on the sidelines of an event at the Agustinianum. ‘We risk living more and more in a climate of intolerance where free expression is no longer accepted,’ added the cardinal, who then emphasised: ‘We want everyone to be able to express their point of view with respect and objectivity. But we also want everyone to be able to express themselves without being subjected to this type of threat. We are concerned about this and express our solidarity with those who have been subjected to this intimidation.’
