Rome, 11 January (LaPresse) – Late yesterday evening, two violent assaults took place near Termini Station in Rome, one hour apart. The first, around 10 p.m., in Via Giolitti, where a 57-year-old Italian man was beaten by several people and is in critical condition at Umberto I Hospital. He was rescued, taken to hospital and is in critical condition. The other attack took place in Via Manin and was carried out against a delivery rider, a 23-year-old of Tunisian origin. CCTV footage has been acquired, and according to investigators, it cannot be ruled out that the two incidents may be linked. For this reason, a large-scale operation has been underway since yesterday evening throughout the area to track down those responsible, involving the Polfer (railway police), officers from the Viminale police station and the Squadra Mobile (flying squad). Dozens of people have been thoroughly checked, seven of whom have been taken to the immigration office and four to the police station. Their status is currently being assessed.
