Signorini case: Google managers investigated for receiving stolen goods from chats

Milan, 29 January (LaPresse) – Several managers from Google Italy and Google Ireland are being investigated by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office for receiving stolen goods and aggravated defamation in relation to the Alfonso Signorini chats published by Fabrizio Corona during his “Falsissimo” programme on YouTube. According to reports, Deputy Prosecutor Letizia Mannella and Public Prosecutor Alessandro Gobbis have launched a second line of investigation into the lawsuit filed by Signorini's lawyers, Domenico Aiello and Daniela Missaglia, after “repeated requests” to “Web Hosting” to remove “defamatory content” from “personal correspondence” and “documents” that Corona allegedly obtained “illegally” concerning the editor of Chi and self-suspended host of Big Brother. The entry in the register of suspects is a necessary step on the part of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which must now carry out investigations to determine whether Signorini's chats were actually obtained illegally and whether the Mountain View internet giant, once it became aware of their origin through the lawyers' warnings, should have removed them from the web.
