Anguillara: mayor declares day of mourning for funeral of Carlomagno's parents

Rome, 30 Jan. (LaPresse) – On Saturday 31 January, Anguillara Sabazia, on the outskirts of Rome, will declare a day of mourning for the funeral of Maria Messenio and Pasquale Carlomagno, parents of Claudio Carlomagno, accused of murdering his wife Federica Torzullo. The decision was made by Mayor Angelo Pizzigallo, who emphasised that “this mourning is not only the grief of a family, but a wound that affects the entire city”. The municipal administration will proclaim a day of mourning in memory of Federica Torzullo on the occasion of her funeral, “as soon as the official date is announced”. The mayor then remembered Maria Messenio “with deep affection and sincere gratitude”. 'A woman of the institutions, former Councillor for Security in my administration (she resigned after the murder of her daughter-in-law, Ed.), she served Anguillara Sabazia with dedication, a sense of duty and genuine concern for the citizens. Her commitment, her discreet but firm presence, and her love for this city remain the moral heritage of our community. At her side was Pasquale Carlomagno, husband and father, a reserved man attached to family values, who shared with Maria a life of sacrifice, dignity and deep bonds. Their loss, which has come about in a context of unspeakable pain, commands our respect, silence and humanity. I invite all citizens, institutions, associations and businesses to participate in the city's mourning with gestures of contemplation, suspending recreational and leisure activities during the hours of the funeral, where possible, as a sign of closeness and condolence,' concludes the mayor.
