Ustica massacre: Rome magistrate’s decision on dismissal of case postponed until after the summer

Rome, 18 March (LaPresse) – The hearing on the latest inquiry into the Ustica air disaster has been adjourned until 27 May. On that date, the civil parties will have their say. However, the decision by the investigating magistrate in Rome on the request to dismiss the case linked to the Itavia DC-9 disaster – which crashed on 27 June 1980, killing 81 people – could be postponed until after the summer. This morning, the investigating magistrate at the Court of Rome, having verified the presence of the families acting as civil parties and the filing of the defence documents, ordered the adjournment. According to the victims’ families, the aircraft was shot down during ‘an act of war’.
