Milan, 16 May (LaPresse) – A newborn baby girl has died of hypothermia shortly after disembarking at Lampedusa’s Favarolo pier. Shortly before dawn, at around 4.30 am, 55 people from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria and Sierra Leone disembarked at the pier, following their rescue by the Guardia di Finanza patrol boat V1307. The baby girl immediately appeared to be in a critical condition and was transferred to the Poliambulatorio clinic along with her mother. However, the baby died during the journey. Upon arrival at the Poliambulatorio, the doctors were forced to confirm the baby’s death.
