Migrants, Foti: ‘Disconcerted by Rome appeal court judges’ decision

Rome, Jan. 31 (LaPresse) – ‘The decision by the judges of the Court of Appeal in Rome to suspend the detention of migrants transferred to Albania is disconcerting, thwarting the Meloni government's initiative to ensure more effective management of migration flows. We are faced with the umpteenth reaffirmation, by a part of the judiciary, of wanting to establish which countries are or are not safe, substituting itself for the natural decision-maker who is instead the government. While waiting for the ruling of the EU Court of Justice on the issue of safe countries, the Meloni government will continue with determination to implement the reforms promised to the citizens, in full respect of the mandate received from the Italians’. Thus Tommaso Foti, Minister for European Affairs, Cohesion Policies and the NRP.
