Pope Francis, Mattarella: ‘Yesterday was his last farewell to the world, let it translate into responsibility’

Rome, 21 April (LaPresse) – ‘One thought prevails above all others – what he decided to do yesterday, on Easter Sunday, with his blessing to the world and his tour of the square among the faithful, with his final appeal to the principle of humanity as a criterion of conduct for everyone. Today, it seems like a farewell to the Church, to women and men all over the world.’ These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a video message on the Quirinale website on the passing of Pope Francis. ‘The response to this farewell from everyone around the world must not be limited to remembrance and gratitude, but must translate into responsibility and the incorporation of his teachings into our daily behaviour,’ he concluded.
