Rome, June 4 (LaPresse) – "There are many aspects of potential concern related to the new offence and to the procedural rules, which appear to be imagined quite differently from the past." This was stated by ANM president Cesare Parodi in an interview with Rai News24, commenting on the new legislation on femicide. "We hope that our suggestions can be incorporated into the final version of the reform," Parodi added.
He then spoke about the Security Decree, which became law after the Senate’s approval. "We were surprised that the measure suddenly became 'urgent' after months of discussion on the bill, and that the final version was reached through a very brief debate and is nearly identical to the original draft. Beyond the substance, it is the method that worries us, because it empties Parliament of its role," Parodi explained. "I also believe there was room to accommodate, for example, suggestions from professors, lawyers, and judges. We are disappointed and concerned that these were not taken into account."
