Referendum, Renzi: "Quorum Clearly Not Reached, Questions Were Ideological"

Rome, June 9 (LaPresse) – "It is now clear that the quorum will not be reached, as was easily predictable based on past experiences. The referendum questions on labor were ideological and backward-looking, as we said repeatedly in various TV debates," said Italia Viva leader Matteo Renzi in his E-newsletter.

"I hope it's clear now that to build a winning center-left, we must talk about the future, not the past. Fighting identity battles may win congresses, but it doesn’t win elections. If we want to build an alternative to Giorgia Meloni, we need to reach out to the middle class, not close ourselves off in ideological corners. I’m convinced we will succeed," he concluded.
