Infrastructure Decree, Lega: ‘Amendment against Euro 5 diesel ban’

Rome, June 11 (LaPresse) – "Avoid the ban on Euro 5 diesel vehicles for another year, giving Regions the possibility to prevent it even later." This is what a Lega amendment to the Infrastructure decree proposes. "Older diesel engines could be stopped starting next October: Matteo Salvini’s party aims to postpone everything to October 31, 2026, allowing the interested Regions to anticipate or further delay the ban. The goal," stresses Lega, "is twofold: on one hand, to protect families at risk of losing their cars, and on the other, to respect the autonomy of the Regions." Any delay in the ban, the Lega text adds, "must be accompanied by compensatory environmental protection measures such as energy efficiency improvements in buildings or increased public green spaces."
