Rome, 8 July (LaPresse) – ‘Japan had the longest single-span bridge in the world, but by this summer I expect the final project to be approved and Italy to surpass Japan, China and Turkey and start work on a bridge that has been awaited for a century, which will create jobs and showcase Italian engineering around the world’. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini during his visit to the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka. ‘I am happy to be here,’ added Salvini, "to strengthen the collaboration between Italy and Japan, but beyond friendship, the issue of work is central. I am meeting Japanese companies that want to invest and hire in Italy, thus creating jobs and wealth, and we are looking for space for Italian companies that can come here to expand their business, and then above all infrastructure, collaboration on the railway network, on housing, on water and on bridges. Italy and Japan are two countries that are close in this respect; we are full of bridges, viaducts and tunnels, and we are the most ambitious in the world'.
