South, Meloni: ‘It is the driving force behind the recovery, with the government's long-term vision’

Naples, 11 July (LaPresse) – ‘This government has chosen to support the protagonism of the South, drawing up a long-term vision, working to create an environment that is as favourable as possible for businesses, and building the most effective tools to give those businesses and the citizens of Southern Italy a real chance to prove their worth’. This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a video message sent to the public assembly of the Industrial Union of Naples. ‘The 2025 assembly of the Industrial Union of Naples,’ added Meloni, "is not only an important event for the Neapolitan capital, Campania or the South; it is an important event for the whole of Italy. Too often in the past, the deep economic and productive interconnections that exist between the regions of the Centre-North and the South have been neglected, to the point that the two economies have almost been considered separate. We know very well that this is not the case, and we know how much our industrial production system draws strength and dynamism from the interdependence between territories and from the ability to enhance and systematise the different strengths of those territories. This is an important point to emphasise in order to finally dispel the false narrative that has long accompanied the debate on development policies, which has pitted the North against the South. This narrative is belied by facts and figures, because when the South grows, it does not do so at the expense of other regions, but to the benefit of the entire nation. Indeed, if we consider the development potential of the Mezzogiorno, the South can be the driving force of the national economy. A South that is no longer lagging behind, but is establishing itself as the driving force behind the revival of this nation, dynamic, ambitious and attractive to investment.
