Tariffs, P.Chigi: ‘Trade war makes no sense, negotiate a fair agreement’

Rome, 12 July (LaPresse) – We trust in the goodwill of all parties involved to reach a fair agreement that can strengthen the West as a whole, given that – particularly in the current scenario – it would make no sense to trigger a trade war between the two sides of the Atlantic. This is what we read in a statement from Palazzo Chigi, which highlights that ‘the Italian government continues to follow with great attention the development of the ongoing negotiations between the European Union and the United States, fully supporting the efforts of the European Commission, which will be further intensified in the coming days.’ Now, the statement concludes, ‘it is essential to remain focused on the negotiations, avoiding polarisation that would make it more difficult to reach an agreement.’
