Former Ilva, Pichetto: ‘If conditions change, the AIA will change’

Rome, July 16 (LaPresse) – "If the conditions change, the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA) must change too," said Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin. His comment came during the presentation of a study by Confindustria and ENEA on nuclear energy, held at the Chamber of Deputies. Referring to the AIA that essentially permits operations at the former Ilva steel plant in Taranto, the minister noted, "The Commission is independent and will assess the current situation tomorrow. Clearly, if conditions change regarding production plans, that will need to be reviewed. If the conditions change, the AIA must change as well."
