Campania, "I’m willing to run": Cirielli awaits leaders and 'calls' Calenda

Rome, July 27 (LaPresse) – “The national leaders are still evaluating. A decision will be made, I believe, also in light of the polls. Personally, I have full confidence in them. I have offered my availability to run,” said Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, speaking to Il Giornale as a prospective candidate for the regional elections in Campania.

The FdI member then criticized Roberto Fico, a possible rival in the race to succeed De Luca: “This is not a political novelty: he was Speaker of the Chamber and had a leading role in the Five Star Movement. My criticism is political, related to administrative incompetence and opportunism. After years of clashes with De Luca, he is now ready to ally with him for a seat. It is a disappointment.”

On the topic of alliances, Cirielli said he is “ready to sit down” with the leader of Azione, Carlo Calenda. “If I am chosen as a candidate, the doors would be open to those who want change, recognizing the existing disaster. With Calenda, it is a different story: he represents a modern and democratic center, and I believe he can be a programmatic ally,” he concluded.
