Mattarella in Kazakhstan: ‘Concern about the resurgence of unilateral behaviour and the use of force’

Astana (Kazakhstan), 29 September. (LaPresse) – ‘We also discussed the international situation, with concern about the resurgence of unilateral behaviour and the use of military force. These are phenomena that we hoped had been banished and were receding into world history’ and which ‘distract from the epochal challenges facing humanity’. These were the words of Head of State Sergio Mattarella after his meeting in Astana with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. These are "trends that worry Kazakhstan and Italy and that show a lack of interest in the real expectations of the people, which are peace, well-being, growth, coexistence and serenity. Italy greatly appreciates Kazakhstan's position of constantly referring to the criteria of the United Nations Charter and therefore to peace, coexistence and international cooperation. These are criteria of behaviour that unite us and form the basis of our friendship, further strengthening it," added the President of the Republic.
