Rome, 16 October (LaPresse) – ‘The last two years of war in the Middle East, marked by the daily loss of human lives, have betrayed this ideal’ of dialogue, weighing heavily on everyone's conscience. Today, we finally see hope rekindled and urge all regional and international actors to commit to consolidating this first step towards responsibility, so that it may lead to peace. We ask this, first and foremost, of the European Union, and the steps being taken are significant, in the knowledge that the path that has just begun is not without its difficulties and possible setbacks and will therefore need all the more the constant support of the international community." Thus spoke the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in his message on the occasion of the 11th edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues, currently taking place in Naples.
