Rome, 9 November (LaPresse) – "For too long, the left has left room for others on the housing issue. Now it is at the centre of our political action. We will fight for families who cannot find housing, for a major national plan for social housing, which has not been seen since the days of Fanfani; it is necessary because the waiting list is too long. There are 100,000 empty social housing units because of a lack of maintenance. All that is needed is the political will.‘ So said PD secretary Elly Schlein at the National Congress of Young Democrats. She added, ’We need a law to regulate short-term rentals. If you trample on students' right to housing, you trample on their right to education and the future of the country."
