Brussels, 20 Nov. (LaPresse) – "The important thing is to find a solution on the use of frozen Russian assets. We are in favour of using these assets to support Ukraine, but we need to identify the legal basis that allows us to make this choice. So, it is only a legal issue, not a political one. We need to see how this can be done and how to ensure the stability of the Eurozone. These are the key points that we need to be able to resolve." This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani upon his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels. “Legal experts and jurists must evaluate the situation and conduct an in-depth analysis together with the European Central Bank. Politically, we are in favour, but we need a legal basis. We cannot make mistakes when taking actions of this kind, otherwise they risk backfiring, so we must absolutely avoid any backlash. That said, we will continue to support Ukraine, and our new Italian package is ready,” he added.
