Rome, 29 Nov. (LaPresse) – "Knowing and not forgetting is necessary to build the future, reaffirming and rooting the principles of human dignity on which freedom, peace, justice and democracy are based, achievements of civilisation that have cost our fathers great suffering and which every generation has the task of strengthening in civil and moral terms. In a time of such rapid and profound change, we feel even more strongly the duty to bear witness so that wars, totalitarianism, racism and discrimination are rejected and never again met with indifference or, worse, justification." These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Association of Former Deportees to Nazi Camps, in a message sent to the president of ANED, Dario Venegoni.
