Iran, Tajani: ‘Summoning the ambassador? It's not our fault they caused carnage’

Rome, 27 January (LaPresse) – Regarding the summoning of Italian Ambassador to Tehran Paola Amadei by the Iranian authorities, "we disagree. It is not our fault that there has been carnage in Iran. The opposition that took to the streets was massacred. There have been thousands of deaths. An important and authoritative weekly magazine said that there could be as many as 30,000 deaths. I don't know if that is the figure, but it is unacceptable in any case." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of an event at the Farnesina. The minister confirmed that on Thursday at the Foreign Affairs Council, ‘together with other countries, we will propose sanctions against the responsible Pasdaran and we will give our approval to include the Pasdaran on the list of terrorist organisations.’
