Memorial Day, Roccella: ‘Never again’ also means guaranteeing Israel's security

Rome, 27 January (LaPresse) – "The word “memory”, which we celebrate today, does not only mean preserving a memory of the past, but keeping it alive and relevant every day. For this reason, today, Remembrance Day for the horrors of the 20th century cannot fail to also be a remembrance of the horrors of 7 October. And for this reason, the “never again” that we solemnly pronounce on 27 January each year also applies today to the existence and security of Israel. Confining anti-Semitism to time and space, while it re-emerges forcefully around us, cynically exploiting the suffering of populations, would be nothing more than an exercise in rhetoric. Never again is yesterday, today, tomorrow'. This was stated by Eugenia Roccella, Minister for Family, Birth and Equal Opportunities.
