Rome, 29 January (LaPresse) – The bill against violence against women is likely to be postponed until 8 April. This is what we have learned on the sidelines of the conference of group leaders at Palazzo Madama. The bill was scheduled to be examined in the chamber on 10 February, but the opposition has asked for more time to examine the new text presented by Giulia Bongiorno and adopted as the basic text in the Justice Committee. “Given that both the political pact and the gentleman's agreement that President Bongiorno would only make a technical amendment have been broken, we have asked for sufficient time to examine the new text, and President La Russa has granted us this,” said PD group leader Francesco Boccia at the end of the meeting. “We also ask that the stopwatch not be used for the hearings,” he added.
