Rome, Feb. 10 (LaPresse) – The government, through Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, has put a confidence motion to the Chamber on the Ukraine decree, that is, on the draft law converting the decree containing urgent provisions for the extension of authorization for the transfer of military vehicles, materials, and equipment to the Ukrainian government authorities, for the renewal of residence permits held by Ukrainian citizens, and for the safety of freelance journalists. “Putting confidence” on the Ukraine decree “is not a way to avoid amendments but a stronger act that brings clarity because it obliges all majority representatives to state whether they continue to support the government on such a relevant issue,” said Defense Minister Guido Crosetto, speaking in the chamber. “It is a serious political positioning act by the majority, and the seriousness of this act is physically represented by the presence of the minister,” added Crosetto, responding to opposition interventions that asked for clarification on the majority’s line after the formation of the ‘Vannacciani’ group, which announced it would vote against the decree. Confidence, therefore, “is not a way to escape an internal crisis but rather to highlight it even more,” concluded the minister.
