Iran, Tajani: “Security of Italians is the absolute priority”

Milan, March 2 (LaPresse) – “The first positive news, which I share with you with a feeling of deep relief, is that no Italians are involved in the attacks, neither civilians nor military personnel. Ensuring their safety is the absolute priority of the Government’s action.” This was stated by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani during the urgent briefing on the situation in Iran and in the Persian Gulf before the Foreign Affairs and Defence committees of the Senate and the Chamber. “I want to be clear: United States and Israel decided independently and in confidentiality when to intervene. The French and British authorities publicly reported that they had not received any advance warning. We, like the Germans and the Poles, were informed once the operation had already begun. I, as I immediately reported to the Prime Minister, was contacted by the Israeli Foreign Minister Saar, who informed me of what was happening,” the Foreign Minister explained.
