Security Decree, 615 euros not only for lawyers: no longer linked to migrant departure

Rome, Apr. 24 (LaPresse) – The Council of Ministers, on the proposal of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Economy and Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, has approved a decree-law introducing urgent provisions on assisted voluntary returns. “The text,” reads the final communiqué of the Council of Ministers issued by Palazzo Chigi, “introduces some amendments to the rules on assisted voluntary returns (AVR) introduced during the conversion of decree-law 24 February 2026, no. 23. The new provisions act in particular on the rules concerning the subjects who may provide assistance to foreign citizens in submitting the application to participate in an assisted voluntary return programme and, consequently, receive the payment of around 615 euros linked to such service.” In particular, it is explained, “the expansion is achieved through the removal of the specification that such assistance must be provided exclusively by a lawyer. Furthermore, the payment of the fee is made subject to the conclusion of the administrative procedure and no longer to the departure of the migrant.”
