Crans-Montana, Palazzo Chigi: Italy joins as civil party in trial

Rome, April 29 (LaPresse) – "The Presidency of the Council of Ministers, through the State Attorney’s Office, which in turn has delegated a Swiss law firm, has filed the act of constitution as a civil party of the Italian Republic in the criminal proceedings related to the fire that occurred in Crans-Montana between 31 December 2025 and 1 January 2026." This is stated in a note from Palazzo Chigi, which explains that "the decision is motivated by the direct damage caused to the State’s assets due to the substantial resources mobilised by the National Civil Protection Service for medical, psychological and logistical assistance to Italian citizens involved." "In terms of liability," the note continues, "the act of constitution as a civil party highlights how the involvement of local authorities in the origin of the event is considered highly plausible, justifying the firm request for compensation against all civilly liable parties."
