Mattarella: ‘International law undermined by the indiscriminate use of force’

Rome, 4 May (LaPresse) – ‘We are navigating a treacherous bend in history. Multilateral institutions and international law, which underpin the contemporary world order, are challenged on a daily basis, if not undermined, by the behaviour of key players on the international stage.’ So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the President of the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI), Maria Angela Zappia. ‘A situation of constant conflict and competition would seek to replace the logic of cooperation,’ he added. ‘The indiscriminate use of force, made even more lethal by the introduction of technologies based on Artificial Intelligence, would seek to become the standard means of resolving disputes between states.’
