Rome, 26 May (LaPresse) – “Listening to the Prime Minister’s speech at the Confindustria assembly raises a question. Is the Giorgia Meloni calling for a change of pace in Europe the same person who has been attending the European Council as Prime Minister for four years and whose government nominated Fitto, who has been Vice-President of the European Commission for two years?” So said PD Secretary Elly Schlein. “Except when she is celebrating her own record for the longevity of her government, the Prime Minister often seems to forget that she has been in power in Italy and Europe for four years, alongside, moreover, a large majority of right-wing governments. Governments which, like her, are hindering a leap forward in European integration, the overcoming of vetoes, European investment through shared debt, and the development of a genuine common European defence,” she concludes.
