Milan, 30 May (LaPresse) – The electoral law is “politically flawed in substance and also in terms of timing, given that it comes at the end of the parliamentary term and at a time when the country is facing far more pressing emergencies”. This is what Michele Gubitosa, vice-president of the M5S, said in an interview with *La Repubblica*, rejecting the reform and turning down the majority’s invitation to negotiate. ‘The conditions are not right, given that a text has arrived in committee that is clearly set in stone, with a framework that is unsustainable for us,’ he states, explaining that "we will not simply say that we disagree politically. We will find the way and the means to put forward our proposals in Parliament.‘ Gubitosa explains that it ’cannot be ruled out‘ that a proposal from the entire broad coalition might emerge with joint amendments, ’but we have not yet had the chance to discuss it because the majority has thrown an electoral law at us with a sense of urgency they wanted to impose after they were defeated in the referendum on justice."
