Milaon, 10 Mar (LaPresse) – Romans Vainsteins, a former world champion cyclist in the 2000 road race in Plouay, was arrested by the Lecco carabinieri at Bergamo Orio al Serio airport. The 53-year-old was arrested for violation of family obligations. The Carabinieri of the Lecco Provincial Command executed the revocation of the Decree of Suspension of an Order of Execution for Imprisonment and Restoration of the same Order, issued by the Criminal Execution Office of the Court of Bergamo against the 52-year old Latvian, because he has to serve 4 months for violation of family care obligations. The athlete was stopped at ‘il Caravaggio’ international airport in Orio al Serio coming from Riga, Latvia. At the end of the formalities, the arrested man was transferred to the Bergamo district house.
